You will all be working on the first assessed task over the next couple of weeks, which looks at an article by Marc Prensky about digital natives and digital immigrants (more information on Moodle). This raises the idea that those who grow up with technologies will use them differently from those who have to adapt to new technologies later in life. I look forward to reading your perspectives on this as I'm most definitely a digital immigrant!
However, more recent research suggests that digital natives may not be as technically savvy as we might think. Have a look at Hargittai's research on the differing ways in which digital natives use technology - this may help you extend your thinking in relation to the Prensky task and consider how you use the Internet yourselves. It will also feed into the course materials in week 10, which will consider how social inequality affects access to the Internet.
